PRACTICAL MINISTRY



Listed below are the Practical Ministry requirements as well as examples and credit values. These should used to  assist the student in meeting the practical ministry requirements of six credits each semester. One may also add church ministries not listed if previously approved by the GBI registrar. If assistance is needed in calculating the required credits, please contact Global Bible Institute.

MINI-BIBLE SCHOOL PRACTICAL MINISTRY

The student is required to be active in one of various levels of a Mini-Bible School each semester. Semester requirements are as follows:

#5 Set up Mini-Bible School and serve as Director
#6, #7 & #8 Mini-Bible School Director
#9 and #10 Mini-Bible School Evangelism Seminars

If the student finds that his church does not have a Mini-Bible School in operation, he should first secure permission from his pastor. Then, following the instructions given in the Mini-Bible School Procedure Manual, he should begin a Mini-Bible School in the church. To receive credit, four or five completed Mini-Bible School Report Forms are required each semester.

PRACTICAL MINISTRY BOOK REPORT

Using the book reporting form provided, the student is required to read one Christian related book each semester and to write a book report. Once completed, the student is to share the book report and the book with his Pastor or supervisor. Once the book report is submitted to GBI and has received a satisfactory grade the student will receive one-half (1/2) credit toward his Practical Ministry credits.

PRACTICAL MINISTRY SERMON NOTES

Using the forms provided, the student is required to take notes of 10 sermons each semester (preferably from his pastor). The completed notes are to be sent at the conclusion of the semester, along with the rest of his work, to Global Bible Institute. Sermon outlines receiving a satisfactory grade earn one-half (1/2) credit toward Practical Ministry credits.

PRACTICAL MINISTRY CHURCH ATTENDANCE

Church attendance is a requirement for Practical Ministry credits. The student is required to attend a minimum of two services per week and expected to be in three unless absences are approved ahead of time. To receive credit, four or five Practical Ministry report forms are required each semester.

PRACTICAL MINISTRY CREDITS
Required for each Semester

Regular Church Attendance/Participation
(4 or 5 forms per semester) = 1 credit

Mini-Bible School #1, #2 or #3 Link
(4 or 5 forms per semester) = 1 credit

Book Report (one per semester) = 1/2 credit

Sermon Notes (ten per semester) = 1/2 credit

Required in Semester #2

Personal Evangelism (two report forms/week for one semester) = 1 credit

Practical Leadership
    *Set up/organize a Mini-Bible School = 1 credit
    *Mini-Bible School Director = 1 credit
    *Sunday School Superintendent = 1 credit
    *Youth Minister or Music Minister = 1 credit
    *Pastor = 2 credits

* The student may submit a 1000 word essay relating to one or more of the selected area (s) of practical ministry from the Practical Leadership list above. The subject of the essay cannot be repeated. = 1 credit

One (1) credit per semester will be given for any of the following:

Deacon/Usher
Elder/Church Board
Sound Equipment
Rest Home Ministry
Orchestra
Choir (or Groups)
Sunday School Teacher
Children's Church
Sunday School Assistant Teacher
Bus Ministry
Church Office Assistant
Senior Citizens Ministry
Christian School Teacher or Assistant Teacher
Other, as approved by the GBI registrar
